Why Coaching?
WHEN other options don’t work
Books, Experts, Therapies, Workshops, nothing seems to work!
Coaching is a collaborative process where the client and the coach engage in a partnership. It is acknowledged that both parties bring expertise to the table.
The reason books, experts, therapies and workshops haven’t been effective is because they haven’t been tailored to the needs of your family and child.
Coaching allows the parent to find the insights and resourcefulness within themselves to begin to see solutions to their child’s “problems.”
What To Expect?
A co-collaborative engagement. I’m going to ask you to play the starring role in this next chapter of your life. We’ll work together to understand what best works for your family so you can spend more time connecting, having fun, and getting that much-needed downtime. By the end of our time, you will feel satisfaction regarding your own performance on whatever you have targeted as the area of change. You’ll feel like, “yeah, this is where it’s at!”
Where It's At
We’ll talk about where you’re at and where you want to be. I’ll get to know you and your family.
Analysis and Plan
Observation or description of the areas you want to improve. Once I understand where you’re at, we’ll come up with a plan that fits your life and your family.
Coaching
I will coach you along the way until you feel confident and we both see change taking place. You’ll get to where you want to be.
How Things Will Look For Your Family
Better Routines
No more morning melt downs, after school chaos or bedtime madness. I’ll help you establish routines both you and the kids will love.
Quicker Resolutions
No family or child/parent relationship is perfect of free of conflict. However, I’ll teach you skills that will de-escalate things much quicker.
Deeper Connections
I’m going to help you get the day-to-day stuff under control so you have more time to build deeper connections with your child.

I'd like to meet in-person but I don’t have childcare. Can I bring my kids to a session?
Let Jill know and she can arrange a babysitter to play in the office space with your child while we meet in the next room.
Does insurance cover this type of thing?
No, insurance does not typically pay for coaching. Individuals will need to cover the fees out of pocket. If cost is an issue, contact Jill for sliding scale fees.
I am so done with virtual meets. Can we meet in person?
Absolutely. I have office space available at an OT clinic in Ithaca. I am also happy to come to your home if you feel comfortable with that.
How does this differ from counseling from a social worker or coaching from other individuals like life coaches or educators?
I am an occupational therapist, and while coaching isn’t traditional direct occupational therapy, I am an expert in what motivates and enables people to do the things they want or need to be able to do. I bring an understanding of neuroscience, sensorimotor and motivation unique to me from my OT practice. I have been further trained in coaching methods. My desire is only to help people feel more empowered to take on the tasks that they need to do and build self-efficacy in finding their own solutions. If at any time I feel your needs are beyond the scope of what we can do in coaching, we will have a conversation about referrals to the appropriate services.
